I may have overdone it a little

So I had my veins done ten days ago now. You'd think I'd be back to normal pretty much, wouldn't you?

    No. I don't think so.

Friday, I was feeling so good and the weather was so nice, I called my vein doctor's office to see if I could take a long walk. They said yes, so I took a walk to the Wallyworld and back. That's about four miles total, and I only really pumped it on the way home.

Then Saturday, I worked a twelve-hour shift. It was steady-busy and I didn't sit more than a few short minutes all day.

I've been wearing my compression hose religiously like a good girl, twelve hours a day, and I've been elevating my feet and taking my ibuprofen as directed. But I'm still not right.

Last night, I noticed a painful ping-pong-ball-sized lump on the inside of my right knee. Hey - that wasn't there before!

And I found a smaller, hard lump on the top of my thigh. That wasn't there before either.

My rainbow-colored bruises are slowly fading and moving down my leg. Most of them don't hurt, but some still really do. And when I finally shaved my legs this morning, a lot of my leg was painful to the touch.

I'm bummed. I've been doing as I was told. Trying my best to be compliant (which is really hard for a nurse).

I guess I'm just impatient. The rest of my body is dying for exercise, but one part of me is holding it back. Not fair.

I expect cooperation from all team members! One of you can't drag the rest of us down! We must work together!

    *sigh*

And lucky me - it's going to be in the high 80s this week, and I get to wear compression hose.

    woot!

I know you want to get back to normal as soon as possible, but it takes time. And I think I remember you telling me you're working tonight but before you went to work, you were planning to clean the house. Doesn't sound like you're taking it easy. If you won't take it easy, at least try to pace yourself and put your feet up even just for 10 minutes.
